Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners tables.

Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
